Police: Resisting Arrest, Drug Charges
Tarrytown police report numerous cases of people resisting arrest and drug charges between the dates of Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Father vs. Son vs. Police
On Dec. 27 at 11:15 p.m., Tarrytown police received a call from a Gracemere Avenue resident requesting help with his son. They were having a verbal dispute and the man said his son was behaving irrationally. Police reported that the son had fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival. They searched the area but didn’t find him until 12:26 a.m. when an officer located him at the DoubleTree hotel. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps was requested for evaluation and the 18-year-old defendant was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. He was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital’s emergency room with one officer on board and one following.

On Dec. 30 at 6:44 p.m., police received a 911 hang up. When they called the number back, a woman reported a dispute with her boyfriend at their residence on South Broadway. Officers reported the two were involved in a verbal dispute prior to their arrival. Officers said they tried to interview the woman who allegedly became abusive and attempted to push past officers. When the woman was advised she was under arrest, she reportedly began to flail her arms and kick at the officers. She was brought to headquarters, processed and arraigned by Judge Kyle McGovern. He issued a temporary order of protection and set bail at $500, sending the defendant to county jail with a return court date.

On January 3 at 5:16 a.m., a Crescent Drive caller reported having a dispute with his ex-girlfriend at his residence. Officers report that it had been a verbal dispute only and the woman left the residence for the day. Officers however arrested the defendant for criminal possession of marijuana in the third and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh. He was taken to headquarters, processed and released to a responsible person with a return court date.
Cell Phone Theft, Drug Possession
On New Year’s Eve at 9:08 p.m., a caller reported that a man had just stolen a cell phone from Walgreens. The suspect was described as a light skin black male wearing a dark jacket and carrying a duffel bag. He was last seen fleeing toward Valley Street. Sleepy Hollow PD were notified and report stopping a man who fit the description walking on Valley Street. Positive identification was made and the man was taken to Tarrytown PD headquarters where he was booked for petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh. He was released with a return court date.
