HARTSDALE, NY — Work to make it safer and easier for pedestrians to cross the street at the "Four Corners" intersection of Hartsdale and Central avenues began Monday.

A contractor for the New York Department of Transportation started work on a project that includes a new traffic signal, ADA-accessible curb ramps at each corner, new signage and striping. It should be completed by the end of June.

Expect minor traffic delays.

This project is separate from the East-West Hartsdale Avenue sidewalk and signal improvements planned by Greenburgh as part of a $5 million grant, and the pedestrian crossing work at Central Park and Lawton avenues, said Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.

"Coupled with the soon-to-be complete North Washington Avenue sidewalk, these projects will contribute significantly towards enhancing safety and making the Town more pedestrian-friendly," he said.
