Rain, Yes, But Diminishing Chances Going Into Hudson Valley Weekend

The storm will bring cold air, blustery winds and perhaps "a touch of snow" in the Catskills. Here's the latest.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There's yet another rainy weekend in store, but this time the chance of precipitation will diminish precipitously by Saturday after possible thunderstorms Friday.

"Friday is shaping up to be our wettest day," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook. "A lull with precipitation is likely during a period of time on Saturday morning with an additional batch of showers passing Saturday afternoon as the upper level Low passes over our area."

Also, it's not going to be a deluge. The National Weather Service is predicting less than an inch of rain spread out over the first 24 hours, and just showers after that.

"The wettest period will be from Friday to Saturday in the Big Apple, when motorists and pedestrians may face flooding in poor drainage areas and difficulties commuting," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. The rain falling in the Hudson Valley will be a glancing blow from a storm AccuWeather predicts could evolve into a "vigorous" Nor'Easter affecting New England and the Canadian Maritimes.

The storm will bring cold air and blustery winds.

It could even bring a slushy accumulation "and perhaps a touch of snow over the ridges in the Catskill, Berkshire and Green mountains," Sosnowski said.

Temps will drop about 10 degrees.
