Slain White Plains Mother Mourned; GoFundMe Launched To Help Family
The 32-year-old was murdered on Nov. 2, according to police.
ELMSFORD, NY — After a mother’s slaying this past weekend, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to pay for her funeral expenses and help support her young child.
Rose Philippe, 32, was found dead Nov. 2 in a room at the Days Inn Motel at 25 Valley Ave., according to the Elmsford Police Department.
Investigators reviewed video surveillance footage, which showed a man fleeing the scene in a vehicle along with a young child shortly before police arrived.

Police said they identified the suspect as Justin Bartley, 32. After a multi-agency manhunt, his vehicle was located in Bronx, New York, and police apprehended him the same day. The child was found unharmed, according to Chief of Police Thomas Proscia.
Bartley was charged with second-degree murder and arraigned Monday. He is currently in custody with the Westchester County Department of Correction.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched earlier this week, with a goal of raising $20,000. As of Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., it had raised $9,846 via 151 donations.
“We are heartbroken to share the tragic loss of our beloved friend Roseberline Philippe who was taken from us far too soon due to a senseless act of violence,” the campaign states. “Rose was a devoted mother, a loving daughter, and an amazing friend.”
She leaves behind a two-year-old child, “who must now grow up without their mother’s love and guidance,” campaign organizers wrote.
Donations will be used toward funeral expenses and to help support the child’s future care and education.
“Thank you for your support, generosity, and prayers as we navigate this heartbreaking moment,” campaign organizers wrote. “Rose’s light will never fade, and we will make sure her baby grows up knowing the love and strength she carried in her heart.”
