A U.S. Postal supervisor reported to Sleepy Hollow Police that one of her carriers had been bitten by a dog on Barnhart Avenue on June 4 at 2:47 p.m.
Officers were sent and reported that the carrier had been bitten by a dog on the thigh after he entered a fenced in property and delivered the mail. There were no signs posted alerting the worker of a dog on property.
Police said the bite pierced skin. The worker planned to see his doctor for treatment of the open wound.
The dog owner was on the scene and said his wife would bring paperwork verifying their dog license to police headquarters. Police filled out required forms and issued a summons for an unlicensed dog in the meantime.
The owner was advised to keep the dog inside for 10 days.
