Sleepy Hollow OKs Moving Elections, Picks Trustees

Two incumbent trustees were returned to office, according to unofficial results.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — Voters in the village of Sleepy Hollow went to the polls Tuesday to pick new trustees and decide whether elections will change to later in the year.

There were six candidates running for three open trustee positions.

According to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections, the three top vote-getters were:

  • Patrick Sheeran: 685 votes (24 percent)
  • Lauren Connell: 670 votes (23 percent)
  • James R. Husselbee: 510 (18 percent)

Sheeran and Connell are incumbents. They ran on the Transparent Accountable Government line. Husselbee ran on the Unite Sleepy Hollow line.

Also on the ballot were James McGovern and Matthew Presseau, who ran on the Unite Sleepy Hollow line and Charles Zekus who ran on the We the People line. Presseau and McGovern each received 14 percent of the vote, with Zekus receiving 8 percent.

Sleepy Hollow voters also overwhelmingly approved moving village elections to the fall of each year to coincide with the general election and primaries.

The vote was 745 in favor and 266 against, according to unofficial results.
