Tarrytown PD: Identity Theft, Smoking Firetruck, Snapping Turtle




Warner Library Bike Theft


On June 6 at 7:59 p.m. a Warner Library staffmember reported to police that a youth's bicycle had been stolen from the front of the library. The bike is a purple color "Mongoose" bike, taken from the rack in front of the building. Police noted a petty larceny case for the record at this time. 

Fire Truck Smoking

A firefighter from the Tarrytown Fire Department put out a radio band call that there was heavy smoke coming from the undercarriage of his truck on South Broadway on June 7 at 12:52 p.m. Tarrytown DPW foreman Scott Weaver was notified and would assist. 

Tearing up the Soccer Field

A caller reported to Tarrytown Police on June 9 at 1:20 p.m. that an unknown party drove onto the Toll Brothers soccer field behind the Marymount Convent. Police at the scene confirmed some type of vehicle had driven on the field. The field is in the early stages of a new grass growth and police said the damage was undetermined at this time. An officer would follow up with the building department and the Toll Brothers.

Snapping Turtle in the Roadway

On June 12 at 4:21 p.m., Greenburgh police reported that Animal Control was on the way to the sidewalk area of South Broadway in front of Lyndhurst for a report of a snapping turtle in the roadway. Tarrytown police went to assist and checked the area with Greenburgh animal control but reported finding nothing.

Scams

On June 12 at 5:46 p.m. a Riverview Avenue resident reported to police that about $700 was stolen from them in a phone scam, with the caller claiming to be Con Edison. Police filed a case for petty larceny.

In another incident, on June 11 at 8:11 p.m. a Grove Street resident told police that an unknown person opened up several store accounts in his name and make purchases totaling $4,454.54. Detectives interviewed the complainant and filed an identity theft case.
