As we get doused in the wet ends of a tropical storm, there are these police reports from the last flash flooding our region suffered:
As heavy rains on the afternoon of May 23 turned Main Street and other places around the villages into sudden rivers, there were a few more lasting effects.
Tarrytown police reported:
The pavement at North Broadway and McKeel Avenue was damaged. DPW supervisor and foreman Howard Wessels and Scott Weaver were on the scene at 1:30 p.m. Making temporary repairs. They designated traffic changes and put no parking signs in place and would further address the problem the next day.
A caller reported the roadway may be damaged at Main Street and Broadway. Officers reported that the road was okay but the manhole cover had been pushed off. The DPW said they would replace the manhole cover.
Despite flooding conditions that seemed to quickly subside at areas like the roadway along the train tracks under the H-bridge, there was only one other official complaint lodged: a resident at Legrande Avenue requested the fire department to help with flooding in his home's basement.
