Tarrytown Schools Receive Grants to Advance Student Innovation and Wellness
Funding will expand robotics opportunities and water safety education across the district.
The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns has received two exciting grants supporting both athletics and STEAM education.
The district has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the Argosy Foundation to support this year’s robotics season. The TarryBots will receive the funds as part of the district’s continued investment in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education. The unrestricted grant can be used to purchase materials, equipment, and resources to help students design, build, and compete in robotics challenges.
“This grant represents an exciting opportunity for our students to continue building their skills in STEAM and collaboration,” said Sharon O'Grady, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “We’re grateful to the Argosy Foundation for recognizing the potential of our students and investing in their future.”

The district is also in the early stages of developing a Robotics Club, aimed at expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in robotics and engineering. The grant will help lay the foundation for this new initiative, supporting students as they explore innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving through real-world applications.
In addition, the district was awarded a $5,000 grant from Step Into Swim and the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation to enhance its swimming program and promote water safety for students.

The funding will allow the district to maintain and expand its swim instruction, ensuring students of all ages gain confidence in and around the water. In addition to supporting pool access and equipment needs, the grant will help reinforce the importance of water safety as a lifelong skill.
“This grant from Step Into Swim and the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation will help us to continue our swim programming for our students and ensure more children learn essential water safety skills,” said Mike Arias, Athletics Director.
Together, these grants propel the district forward in its efforts to provide innovative, inclusive programs that nurture both the academic and personal growth of every learner.
