Paint Night Art Prep for Veterans
Creating art is a fun and therapeutic way to relieve stress. Every other week, the Vet2Vet program hosts a "Paint Night" for Veterans and their families on Zoom. The program provides all art supplies to attendees. Volunteers are needed to assemble the paints and other supplies (creating small paint bottles, for example), package them up, and prepare them to be shipped. Volunteers may also be needed to bring these packages to the post office (up to 15 boxes). This is an in-person project that takes place over multiple dates. Ideally, the volunteer will commit to assisting on a regular basis. Teen volunteers welcome!
Date: Sept. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; alternating Fridays
Organization: Family Services of Westchester
Location: White Plains

Diaper Packaging Event
In honor of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, volunteers are asked to serve their communities by preparing diaper packages for Westchester families. Volunteers will place a one-week's supply of diapers into a large Ziploc bag along with a package of baby wipes and educational inserts. A recent study by the National Diaper Bank Network reports that nearly one in two families struggle to diaper their babies. This population needs volunteers' help more than ever! This opportunity is ideal for families and groups as well as teens looking for community hours.
Date: Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Organization: Junior League of Central Westchester
Location: Scarsdale
