HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Hudson Line will be back to "near-normal" service in time for the Monday morning commute, according to officials.
"After a mudslide in Scarborough on Saturday prevented trains from operating, Metropolitan Transportation Authority - MTA workers immediately got to work to restore the service New Yorkers count on," Gov, Kathy Hochul said in a statement released Sunday evening. "Thanks to their around-the-clock efforts, MTA Metro-North Railroad service will be restored in time for the Monday morning commute."

Travelers on Metro-North's Hudson Line had to make other arrangements on Saturday as a mudslide washed out the tracks between the Croton-Harmon and Tarrytown stations.
Overnight showers brought a world of hurt on weekend commuters and a massive amount of earth covered the tracks.
"A mudslide in Westchester County has caused significant disruption to MetroNorth and Amtrak service," Hochul said in a statement released on social media Saturday afternoon. "No injuries have been reported & no individuals are stranded. Our top priority is to restore service as quickly as possible so the Monday morning commute can occur as normal."
Train service remained suspended as of Saturday evening.
Very limited bus service was made available between the two stations, but the railroad encouraged affected passengers to use Bee-Line buses to transfer to the Harlem line.
"We strongly recommend customers take the Harlem Line which is running a full schedule," the MTA said in a service alert.
Hudson Line service was reduced to hourly in both directions between Grand Central and Tarrytown, and between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.
The mudslide also affected Amtrak service along the Hudson River.
All Amtrak service operating between Albany and New York City was canceled for the remainder of the day, according to Amtrak. No substitute transportation was available and riders were encouraged to rebook for another date.
