18 Ward Melville Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students

Out of more than 1.3 million entrants nationwide, these seniors earned recognition for their outstanding academic accomplishments.

Congratulations to 18 Ward Melville High School seniors who were named Commended Students in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are Isabella DeVito, Kevin Dong, Natalie Drucker, Maria Gavrilov, Alexander Gembinski, Benjamin Haase, Grace Hammons, Anbang Jiang, Molly Karp, Matthew Lam, Andy Lu, Abigail Meschi, Olivia Miller, Rishikesh Ram, Yuming Su, Andrew Xie, Anna Xing, and Brian Zhang.

Over 1.3 million juniors in approximately 20,000 high schools entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. Only 34,000, or 2.62 percent, of these high performers received commended status. Congratulations to these exceptional students!
