Car Slams into Booth at West Meadow Beach

A driver who lost control and careened into the entrance booth at West Meadow Beach on Tuesday caused severe damage, a fire department spokesman said Thursday.

The accident closed the entrance booth for about an hour on Tuesday afternoon after it occurred at approximately 4 p.m.

According to reports, both the driver and the parking attendant inside the booth were not injured. The spokesman said it is unknown how the driver lost control of the vehicle, and described the damage to the booth as extensive.

West Meadow Beach is a Town of Brookhaven beach. The town plans to construct a new booth, according to Brookhaven spokesman Jack Krieger, and there will be no interruption in beach access when the new booth is erected.
