Driver Killed In 3-Vehicle Long Island Crash
A driver who crossed over into oncoming traffic died in a three-vehicle collision, police say.
CENTEREACH, NY — A driver was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Centereach on Thursday morning, Suffolk police said.
A person was driving a Honda Pilot southbound on Nicolls Road, between Mark Tree and Wireless roads, when the Honda crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a 2022 Buick Encore around 7:40 a.m., police said. The Buick then sideswiped a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are withholding their name until their next of kin is notified.

The driver of the Buick, a 28-year-old West Islip woman, suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital, police said.
The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old Merrick man, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
