Press release from the Three Village Central School District:

Dec. 14, 2022

Mr. Dean Kostis’ eighth grade technology class at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School in the Three Village Central School District are learning how to fly drones. Before taking flight, students wrote codes to perform on a drone simulator. This helped them perfect their flight and landing. Students took measurements and used software to program their drones to navigate a small obstacle course using their Chromebooks.

This invaluable experience for students creates an opportunity to develop key coding skills while learning the real-world applications of drones. Students learned how programming is becoming a larger part of the world each day, with drones being used to deliver goods, locate sharks near shorelines and just last year, a drone was used to transport a human organ to a hospital for a transplant operation.
