Local Hero: Selfless Farmer Gives Fresh Veggies To Soup Kitchens

THREE VILLAGE, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

This submission comes from Tina Summerlin who nominated Ann Pellegrino of Three Village.
Summerlin knows Pellegrino from the Community Shared Agriculture vegetable program at the Bethel Hobbs Community Farm in Centereach. She describes Pellegrino as a selfless person who gives back to the community by donating fresh vegetables to local soup kitchens.

I was a member of the Community Shared Agriculture vegetable program at her farm.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?:
She is selfless, and created this beautiful and bountiful farm from scratch to help others in need.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?:
She is the hardest working person I know, helping to feed fresh vegetables to people in need.
