Newsweek Ranks Jefferson's Ferry Top CCRC in the State

Newsweek Ranks Jefferson's Ferry Top CCRC in the State, 25th Nationally, in America's Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities 2024

Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan Community has been ranked the top Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRCs) in New York State by a national Newsweek survey conducted among healthcare professionals, CCRC residents, family members and acquaintances of those living in CCRCs and through accreditation data. Jefferson’s Ferry’s national ranking in the survey is 25th among 250 CCRCs ranked. https://www.newsweek.com/rankings/americas-best-continuing-care-retirement-communities-2024

Continuing Care Retirement Communities, also known as Life Plan Communities, offer a continuum of long-term care options, allowing residents to access higher-level care as medical needs progress. The communities typically include Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Care and Memory Care.

Jefferson’s Ferry Chief Executive Officer Bob Caulfield attributes Jefferson’s Ferry’s top ranking to its proactive approach to the evolving needs of its residents, who span three generations, and the deep sense of community among Jefferson’s Ferry residents. “This winter we will complete our 5-year Journey Toward Renewal, which has added independent living apartments and expanded our fitness programs, dining experiences, and arts and entertainment activities,” he explained. “Our physical therapy and rehabilitation suite is expanded and newly outfitted, and a state-of-the-art memory support wing has a spacious, flowing floorplan which invites residents to stroll around their neighborhood, enjoy family gatherings and the outdoors in a secure space. Our residents are committed to the healthy, vibrant lifestyle we offer.”

He continued, “Another important consideration is that Jefferson’s Ferry, as a not-for-profit, can provide our residents with a sense of security unlike for-profit communities. Our “lifecare promise” is just that. Residents are never asked to leave if they run into financial difficulties by outliving their assets. Health care is conveniently available on our campus at predictable costs should it ever be needed. This differentiates us from other competing for-profit senior living options.”

CCRCs continue to increase in popularity as an option for older adults who desire the peace of mind that comes with the continuum of care and an independent, active and engaged lifestyle. To help its readers make informed decisions about retirement living options, in 2023 Newsweek inaugurated a partnership with the global research firm Statista to rank America's Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

Online surveys conducted nationally utilized professional recommendations and assessments from medical professionals (e.g., registered nurses, therapists, and physicians) and staff working in the management/administration of CCRCs and surveyed thousands of acquaintances of residents and residents living in CCRCs. Acquaintances were able to participate through Newsweek.com. The survey was also promoted on several social media platforms.
