Pedestrian Killed In Suffolk Car Crash: Police

An older woman was standing in the road when she was struck by a car, police say.

SELDEN, NY — A woman standing in the street in Selden was killed in a one-car crash on Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A man was driving a 2012 Dodge Durango eastbound in the left turning lane of Middle Country Road, near Magnolia Place, when the Dodge struck an older woman who was standing in the road at 4:58 p.m., police said.

The woman, who has yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, who stayed at the scene, and his passenger were not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
