Police Officers Rescue Owl
Officers bring the owl to the Department of Environmental Conservation in Stony Brook for care.

A wounded owl was rescued by police from the side of the Long Island Expressway on Wednesday morning, Suffolk police announced.
Emergency Service Police Officers Fred Sales and Carl Glaser responded to a call from a passerby at 8:25 a.m. at Exit 65. They discovered an owl with a dilated eye showing signs of trauma.
"The officers placed a raincoat over the owl to settle it down and then were able to grab its talons and control the animal," according to a police statement.

The officers brought the owl to the Department of Environmental Conservation in Stony Brook for care.
The owl, identified by a DEC spokesperson as a great horned owl, was still being evaluated by wildlife experts as of Wednesday afternoon.
