Port Jefferson Yacht Club Village Cup Regatta

This was the 15th year of the Port Jefferson Yacht Club Village Cup Regatta. We saw our total donations to the Lustgarten Foundation and Mather Hospital's palliative medicine exceed $1,000,000 this year. The day started off with a "parade of boats", followed by a sailboat race and finished with raffles, dinner and speeches. Several dignitaries attended the event among them; Ralph Macchio, who has been our celebrity Ambassador for twelve years and attended as usual. Dr. Bruce Stillman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory attended and spoke at the event. He shared information about current research and how donations help fund cutting edge research. (Cold Spring Harbor Labs is the world's foremost authority on pancreatic cancer research.)In addition in attendance were: Thalia Olaya, Anthony Palumbo, Ed Flood, Jonathan Kornreich, Lauren Sheprow.

Over 100 club members volunteer their boats, their time, and their expertise. We at the Port Jefferson Yacht Club pride ourselves in selling merchandise to cover most if not all of the little expenses we have so that almost every dollar donated goes to our charity. We are proud that our efforts are making a difference.
