Resident Advisor: Introducing a Weekly Planner for Stony Brook Students
Here's what's happening this week at Stony Brook University.

Somewhere in between classes and homework, laundry and social life, we're guessing there are lots of college students in Three Village who can benefit from a little help getting organized, finding ways to get involved, and learning about the community surrounding the campus.
That's why we're introducing Resident Advisor, a new Monday morning feature which will help Stony Brook students figure out what's happening on their thousand-acre-plus campus. We'll highlight at least one event every day, plus pick an off-campus event you might like. We'll throw in dates to remember, contests and deals for college students, and even a social media shoutout each week.
This week, you can learn about getting a class ring or studying abroad, honor Black History Month, and more.

Sunday: Stay on Target this Semester at the Library
Try not to fall behind in your work. Get some studying in at the Melville Library, where the main stacks, circulation, and science/engineering library are open from noon until 10 p.m. on Sundays.
Life Off Campus
There's a world of stuff to do outside campus. If you are a fan of karaoke, for instance, you've got two nearby options: in Port Jefferson on Wednesdays and Sundays, and in Setauket.
Dates to Remember
If circumstances require you to withdraw from the university, Feb. 20 is your last day to leave the university and still get a 50 percent refund on your tuition. For more information, check out the university's academic calendar website.
Opportunity Knocks
Don't miss your chance to enter your short fiction in a writing competition. Full-time undergraduates are eligible for the contest, sponsored by Stony Brook Southampton's MFA program in writing and literature. The deadline to enter is March 1.
Social Media Shoutout
On Feb. 10, Twitter user @Sara_Vibes made a statement that's been made before: "Stony Brook you are so confusing.... I am lost." Well, Sara, check this out: Stony Brook's website offers five different maps for students and visitors alike. We hope it helps you find yourself. Isn't that what college is all about?
