- Language and Power In Contemporary Art Gallery Exhibit at Zuccaire. Mis/Communication features video, sculpture, print, and interactive media artworks by contemporary artists who explore the power of language in a cultural context. Artwork by mostly young and emerging artists examines issues such as the global predominance of English and the societal tendency to censure other languages, dialects and linguistic practices. - A woman was found dead in an apartment fire in Patchogue on Wednesday, Suffolk police and Village Fire officials said. Patchogue firefighters arrived at the Rider Terrace Apartments and found the woman at the bottom of the stairs. Three apartments were damaged in the fire, said police, adding no other injuries were reported. (Newsday)
- Jolly Old Saint Nick is stopping by for a visit to Port Jefferson Village this weekend.
The Port Jefferson Chamber Of Commerce‘s annual Santa Parade is this Sunday at 3 p.m. on Main Street in the village. “The parade will be somewhat extensive and we’ll have many vehicles, floats, marchers, and community organizations,” said Barbara Ransome, director of operations for the chamber. “It’ll take about 45 minutes for the viewing.” It starts in Upper Port Jefferson at the Long Island Rail Road train station and marches down to Main Street.(GreaterBayShore)
