SBU to Break Ground on New Hospital Buildings in the Fall
Village Times Herald reports new construction will be completed by 2016.

Groundbreaking on the Medical and Research Translation (MART) building and new patient tower will likely happen later in 2013 after Stony Brook secured 90 percent of the necessary funding, according to a report published this week in The Village Times Herald.
Dr. Kenneth Kaushansky, dean of the School of Medicine, recently addressed members of local chambers of commerce about the hospital's future. According to the Village Times Herald report, he said the $423 million projects, which will expand the hospital by 465,000 square feet, is expected to be completed by 2016.
The new patient tower will in part house Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital. The construction will begin thanks to a NYSUNY 2020 challenge grant, an increase in Stony Brook's tuition, and matching funds from the Simons Foundation.
