Setauket Students Learn Internet Safety From Sheriff’s Office

Students gathered in the school's auditorium for an interactive presentation that focused on several topics.

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office visited Setauket Elementary School in the Three Village Central School District on Nov. 4 to speak with fourth, fifth and sixth graders about internet safety.

Students gathered in the school’s auditorium for an interactive presentation that focused on several topics including safe social media use and cyberbullying.

Students were encouraged to protect themselves online by not posting their full names or hometowns. They were taught to not engage with, or block users that they don’t know. Most importantly, the Sheriff’s Office stressed the importance of students telling someone they trust if they are confronted with an uncomfortable or harmful situation online.
