Student Seeks Medical Treatment Following School Fight

Incident took place at Murphy Junior High.

One student sought medical treatment at a hospital following a fight with another student on April 3 at Murphy Junior High School, Suffolk County police said Thursday.

The school district confirmed Thursday that an incident had taken place at the school, but could not confirm whether the student was later treated at a hospital. The district issued a statement saying the incident was immediately handled by school staff and administration and that the students involved were assessed by the school nurse.

The school district is not considering this incident an instance of bullying.
