Teddy Bears Get Top-Notch Care

Three Village's Summer Recreation Program hosted the Stony Brook Kids Teddy Bear Clinic.

The Three Village Central School District’s Summer Recreation Program welcomed some special guests this summer during the Stony Brook Kids Teddy Bear Clinic. This unique and engaging event turned an ordinary day at camp into an imaginative healthcare adventure for the district’s youngest participants.

Campers were invited to bring their favorite stuffed animals to “check in” at the clinic, where they became doctors and nurses for the day. Guided by nurses and medical students associated with Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, the children learned how to care for their plush patients while picking up important lessons on safety and health. Activities included pretend medical check-ups, helmet safety demonstrations, and car seat awareness.

The clinic is designed to help children become comfortable with medical environments in a fun, stress-free way, while also teaching skills that can prevent injuries. By combining play with education, the Teddy Bear Clinic encourages empathy, responsibility, and confidence.
