1. Stony Brook University wants to give the kids in our community a brighter smile! Mark on your calendar the "Give Kids A Smile Day." Free dental services will be offered to the little ones on Aug. 23 from 2 - 4 p.m. (All Events)
2. The Jazz Loft Trio will have a jam session on Wednesday, Aug. 24. The music starts playing at 7 p.m. at 275 Christian Ave. in Stony Brook. (Patch)
3. Meditation sessions are on Thursdays from 10 -11:30 a.m. The Bates House offers the programs at Frank Melville Memorial Park, and classes are by donation! (Frank Melville Park)
4. Lauren Pazienza from Port Jefferson is accused of pushing an 87-year-old vocal coach to the floor, causing injuries that caused her death. Pazienza will face a tentative trial scheduled for Oct. 6. Last month, Pazienza declined a plea deal, and she pleaded not guilty. (Long Island News12)
