Here are the top stories today in Three Village:

  1. Suffolk Police Officer Timothy Thrane, at one point on life support after being critically injured on duty by an alleged drunk driver, was released Friday following a monthlong hospital stay. Thrane was directing traffic just before midnight Nov. 3 at the site of a crash in Yaphank when a Chevrolet pickup crashed into the back of a GMC Yukon parked nearby, police said. The impact from the crash caused the Yukon to fishtail and spin into Thrane. (Newsday)
  2. The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra will perform Symphony No. 1, “Afro-American” by composer William Grant Still as part of its program on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. at the Staller Center for the Arts main stage. The program will include guest conductor Sarah Ioannides and violin soloist Heejeon Ahn. (Stony Brook News)
  3. Like pizza places and Chinese food restaurants, it seems that even though every shopping center has their own, ultimately your local acai bowl joint is your favorite. Playa Bowls recently had a grand opening, celebrating the latest place to get your fix in Miller Place. Open every day from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Playa Bowls offers a full menu of acai bowls, smoothies, juices, and iced coffees. (TBRNews)
  4. Welcome to this 1880 treasure — open the gate, then chose a chair at one of the several places in the garden, or under the wisteria-covered pergola on the way to the rocking chair front porch. Enter through the original front door and view one of Setauket’s beautiful Circa homes with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 fireplaces, and updated kitchen with lots of charm and original details. Fully fenced, 3 car detached garage, out-building, Koi Pond and so much more. The amazing home is on the market for $735,000. (TBRNews)
