Three Village Housing Discussion Expands to Reddit
Reddit users start their own discussion based on Patch series.

Patch readers aren't the only ones who have been having a lively discussion over the issue of illegal student boarding houses popping up in residential neighborhoods around the Three Village area.
A Reddit thread titled "Long Island's legendary NIMBY attitude extends to grad students" is generating comments, too. The thread cites this article on town efforts to ramp up penalties and expand enforcement as well as this article in which a local landlord speaks out.

"I'm a Stony Brook grad student and in my experiences renting to grad students is a lot different than renting to undergrads but we still get treated the same way. Most grad students live here year-round and want a place to make into their home for multiple years. We aren't looking for a place that we can trash and vacate for the summer. Yes...we usually need to share a rental house with friends to achieve this, but most of us do a good job of keeping our homes neat and try to be good neighbors."
