THREE VILLAGE, NY—Robert Vincent Montano, 17, hopes to one day be a leading actor on Broadway. He might get his chance sooner rather than later thanks to Broadway's: "Next On Stage: High School Competition." Not one to be shy in front of the camera, Robert's mom said he's been building up his acting reel for quite some time.

"He was in Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall last three seasons," Maria Montano, his mother, said. "He played Troy Bolton High School Musical off Broadway in NYC, And will be featured in in Warner Brothers' upcoming film, Newark, coming out in Spring 2021."

The online, singing competition is geared toward student performers and is a first for Broadway Records, the sponsor. As part of the competition, high school and college-aged students submit videos of themselves performing a song from the musical theatre canon. People at home can then vote for their favorite performance.
