A man grabbed a woman from behind, threw her to the ground and stole her purse on Quaker Path in Setauket on July 1, according to a Suffolk County police report. The robber, who is described as a black man with a thin build and a bald head, allegedly fled south on Quaker Path after the robbery.

Local Costume Designer Enters Spotlight With New Shop

For nine years, Donna Bauch volunteered her time making costumes for the annual Murphy Junior High School musical – even after her own kids passed through the schools. She would scour thrift stores for items that could be used or modified for the kids’ costumes. It was during that time, she said, that she realized she had a great sense of fashion. Fast forward a few years, and she has found herself the owner of a new boutique in Stony Brook: Designer Fashions Consignment.

Repairs M.I.A. for Beyond Bumpy Christian Avenue

As rough road conditions persist on Christian Avenue, residents and drivers still await an answer from the Town of Brookhaven regarding when repairs will begin. Highway superintendent Dan Losquadro did not return a call for comment on Tuesday. In the meantime, this Patch editor decided to take a drive down Christian Avenue to see just how bumpy the road has become; see our video above. Patched asphalt can be clearly seen in many places, along with ruts that have yet to be touched.
