Obamas Won't Buy Upper East Side Apartment, Report Says
Barack and Michelle Obama were spotted looking at the 10 Gracie Square apartment in October.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Thanks for the consideration, Obamas. After looking at an apartment on the Upper East Side as a possible New York City home, it appears former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama's interest in the neighborhood has passed.
The Obamas will not be buying a duplex in 10 Gracie Square, New York Magazine first reported. The presidential couple toured the unit — a 12-room home just blocks away from Gracie Mansion — at the coveted residential building in October.
"It’s not happening," New York Magazine's anonymous source said. "They certainly did not submit an application, and this never got to the point where a deal was even being floated."

The Obamas interest in the apartment was first reported by the New York Post, which noted that the couple could be the unnamed buyers of a unit that went into contract for $10 million.
Barack Obama is no stranger to living in New York City. The former president graduated from Columbia University and previously resided in Park Slope. If it's indeed true that Obama is moving to the city, he will find friendly confines in the liberal stronghold. During a February 2017 visit to Manhattan, Obama was given a hero's welcome.

The Obamas bought a home in the elite D.C. neighborhood of Kalorama for $8.1 million in June 2017. The family had previously rented the 6,441-square-foot, nine-bedroom, 8.5-bath mansion since moving out of the White House.
