Pediatric Urgent Care Office To Open On Upper East Side

The medical facility, staffed by board-certified pediatricians, is the first urgent care in the neighborhood to focus solely on pediatrics.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new medical office opening on the Upper East Side will be Manhattan's first urgent care facility that focuses solely on pediatric care, according to a spokesperson for the clinic.

ProHEALTH Care will open its new clinic at 1601 Third Ave. near East 90th Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 30, the company announced this week. The following Saturday, Feb. 1, the clinic will hold a "community day" offering free vision and hearing screenings between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., a clinic spokesperson said.

Staffed by board-certified pediatricians, the clinic will offer care for children younger than 18 years old. Services offered include urgent care, school physicals, rapid test results, and onsite x-rays. For patients that need follow-up care, the clinic will provide transportation to another medical facility.

ProHEALTH Care will be open every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., a company spokesperson said. The clinic claims it offers the longest hours to see a board-certified pediatrician in Manhattan, and says the extended hours will give parents more flexibility when seeking care for their children and an alternative to the hospital emergency room. The clinic also boasts short wait times, easy sign in and online booking.

"Kids get sick at all hours of the day and parents want access to a pediatrician who understands the medical needs of a younger patient," Zeyad Baker, M.D., president and CEO of ProHEALTH Care, said in a statement. “Most urgent cares don’t have a pediatrician on staff and waiting for a physician’s office to open or visiting an emergency room should not be the only options for patients to get pediatric care."
