Sutton Place Elevator Room Fire Injures 3: FDNY
A fire broke out in the elevator room at the top of a 21-story building on Sunday evening, officials said.

SUTTON PLACE, NY — A fire at the top of a 21-story Sutton Place building left three injured on Sunday night, officials said.
The fire broke out at about 8 p.m. inside an elevator machinery room on the roof of 45 Sutton Pl. South, between East 55th and 54th streets, officials said, with over 100 firefighters responding to help.
Because the blaze knocked out elevator service, firefighters had to huff it up the stars to summit the 21-story building, according to the FDNY.

While the cause is still under investigation, fire officials said there was arching in the electrical room and that Con Ed was on the scene.
The fire was under control by 10 p.m. and sent a firefighter and resident to New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries, officials said, and a third resident with minor injuries was treated at the scene.

Fire officials couldn't confirm if elevator service had been restored to the 21-story building as of Monday morning.
