You Can Buy A $23M Penthouse In Former Iconic UES Hotel Wales

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A penthouse at the top of a former iconic Upper East Side hotel officially just hit the market for $23 million.

Over the past few years, the former Hotel Wales at 1295 Madison Avenue has been converted from a century-old 89-room boutique hotel into a luxury condominium building.

The new building's 4,179-square-foot penthouse has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a wrap-around terrace with Central Park views, a separate roof terrace, an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace, two powder rooms, French doors, and 360-degree exposure to light.

"An elegant entry gallery, with a dedicated elevator and curved stair to the roof terrace, leads to a gracious corner great room with an elegant fireplace, coffered ceilings, captivating southwestern corner windows, and terrace access on two exposures through grandly scaled French doors," reads a description on the unit's listing that gives you an idea of what it would be like to live in the luxurious penthouse.

The unit's listing estimates its total monthly mortgage at $77,575, with an overall monthly cost of $97,214.

Real estate firm Adellco LLC bought Hotel Wales for $56.25 million in December of 2018. The hotel officially closed on the last day of 2019.

It welcomed guests at the Upper East Side address for 119 years.
