1 Dead, 1 Clinging To Life After UWS Apartment Fire, FDNY Says
According to the FDNY, the fire broke out around 3:13 a.m. Thursday on the 14th floor of a 15-floor building.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — One 41-year-old woman was killed and another woman is in critical condition after a fire swept through an apartment building on the Upper West Side early Thursday morning, authorities said.
According to the FDNY, the fire broke out at 175 West 73 St. between Amsterdam Avenue and Columbus Avenue around 3:13 a.m. Thursday on the 14th floor of a 15-story building.
Seventy-eight firefighters and medics responded to the blaze, FDNY officials said.

Police from precinct 20 told Patch that two civilians were rushed to the hospital.
The 41-year-old woman was taken to Mount Sinai West, where she was pronounced dead, and the 77-year-old was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition, NYPD officials said.

Firefighters got the blaze under control by 4:08 a.m., FDNY officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The name of the 41-year-old is being withheld until her family can properly notified, police said.
