1 Man Flees After Car Flips Over During Collision In Manhattan, Police Say

One driver was hospitalized, and one driver ran away on foot from the scene of the collision.

According to the NYPD, a 47-year-old man in a 2009 Honda was driving uptown ​on FDR Drive near East 96th Street at 3:30 a.m. Monday when a driver in a 2024 BMW rear-ended the Honda, causing it to flip over.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — One man was hospitalized and another man ran away on foot after a car crash on FDR Drive early Monday morning, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, a 47-year-old man in a 2009 Honda was driving uptown on FDR Drive near East 96th Street at 3:30 a.m. Monday when a driver in a 2024 BMW rear-ended the Honda, causing it to flip over.

The BMW's driver got out of the car and ran away on foot, police said, to parts unknown. No arrests have been made yet, police said.

When medics arrived, the 47-year-old was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

FDR Drive was shut down for a little more than an hour following the collision.

The investigation is underway, police said.
