7 Injured In Fire On The Upper West Side, FDNY Says
A couch caught fire in the hallway of the public housing complex.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Seven people were injured early on Monday after a couch caught fire in the hallway of a public housing complex on the Upper West Side, New York City Fire Department officials said.
According to the FDNY, the fire started around 12:40 a.m. in the hallway of the eighth floor of a 13-story building located at 70 Amsterdam Ave.
The building is part of the Amsterdam Houses complex owned by the New York City Housing Authority, and is between 62nd Street and 63rd Street.

FDNY officials said the fire was put under control by 1:16 a.m. by 78 firefighters, and seven people were injured.
Three people were taken to local hospitals, and the others refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.
