UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - An elderly woman was attacked on a subway station platform in the Upper West Side early Monday morning, authorities said.

The 73-year-old victim was waiting for a northbound R train at the 57 Street/7th Avenue subway station about 2:31 a.m. when a man punched her in the face, police said.

The assailant, clad in all black clothing, then fled the station, police said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was treated for swelling to her left eye. She was released later Monday morning, police said.

No arrests have been made thus far. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
