The closure would leave a bagel-shaped hole in the Upper West Side.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Absolute Bagels, the longstanding cash-only schmear shop on the Upper West Side with a cult-like following, appears to have closed for good, the West Side Rag reports.
According to the report, the bagel spot was shuttered Thursday morning with two signs on the facade saying "WE ARE CLOSED."
An employee told the West Side Rag "There are many problems" with the store and that it would be closed for good.
