Attempted Rape Of 18-Year-Old Happens On Upper West Side Train: Police

A man exposed himself and tried to pull a woman's pants down on a "2" train as it entered the 72nd Street station, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A man exposed himself and tried to pull an 18-year-old woman's pants down on an Upper West Side train, police said.

The woman got on a "2" train about 10 p.m. on Sunday at 125th Street, where she was followed by an unknown man, police said.

The man then exposed himself and tried to grab her pants as the train pulled into the 72nd Street station, police said.

A Good Samaritan stepped in, though, and the woman was able to flee to another train car, police said.

The man then got off the train at 42nd Street, and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The 18-year-old took herself to NYC Health & Hospitals for treatment and evaluation, police said.
