Big Apple Circus Returns To Lincoln Center In October

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Big Apple Circus is coming back to town in October featuring a Brooklyn-born ringmaster and a lineup that includes strongmen, comedians and trained housecats.

The circus' run will begin Oct. 12 at Lincoln Center and continue through Feb. 2, 2020, according to a press release. This will be the Big Apple Circus' 42nd season and its third since the circus was re-launched in 2017 following bankruptcy proceedings.

"World-renowned for its intimate and artistic style, Big Apple Circus is passionate about revitalizing the circus for modern-day audiences with unique and astounding human feats from performers with incredible real-life stories," a press release reads.

These days the circus is led by ringmaster Storm Marrero, a native of Brooklyn. The lineup of performers features acrobats from the Aliev Troupe specializing in aerial combat and Russian Barre, "Americas Got Talent" finalists Savitsky Cats and the award-winning New York native juggler Kyle Driggs.

During its run the Big Apple Circus will host several special shows to be as inclusive to as many guests as possible. The Circus of the Senses will return on Dec. 5 and 6 where all guests will wear blindfolds and be treated to a fully-audio show, special Autism-friendly shows with less intense lights and sound will be held on October 26 and November 1st and several shows will feature $10 tickets for children from underserved schools and community groups.

The Bigg Apple Circus has been entertaining New Yorkers during the holiday season since the 1970s. Tickets to the circus can be purchased on Ticketmaster, according to a press release.

The circus' performance schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.;
  • Thursdays at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.;
  • Fridays at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.;
  • Saturdays at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.;
  • Sundays at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
