Bloody Upper West Side Stabbing Leaves Man Wounded Monday AM: NYPD

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A stabbing on an Upper West Side street Monday morning left a man injured and a pool of blood on the sidewalk, according to police and an image from the scene.

The violence unfolded Monday about 8:10 a.m. on West 96th Street and Broadway, just steps from a nearby T-Mobile store, police said.

A man was stabbed once in the buttocks by an unknown assailant, officials told Patch.

In a photo sent Patch by a reader, a pool of dark red blood remained visible on the sidewalk shortly after the attack, with more blood splattered nearby.

Medics rushed the victim to St. Luke's Hospital in stable condition, police said.

An NYPD spokesperson had no information about the victim's age or about the stabber — aside from saying it's believed the suspect is a man and that he fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The investigation remains ongoing, police added.
