Burglar Swipes Packages From UWS Buildings, Police Say

The man breaks into buildings by forcing open the front door.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with several burglaries on the West Side, police said.

The suspected burglar has stolen packages from the lobbies of at least three buildings on the Upper West Side and one in Hell's Kitchen, police said. The man's crime spree began in September 2017 and the most recent robbery he's been connected to occurred on Jan. 22, 2018, police said.

On Sept. 14, 2017 the man broke into a building on West 71st Street and Broadway by forcing the front door open, police said. Once inside, the man grabbed a package from the building lobby and exited with it, police said.

The first robbery mirrors the following three, which occurred in buildings on West 70th Street and West End Avenue, West 47th Street and Ninth Avenue and West 71st Street and Columbus Avenue, police said. The man breaks in, finds some packages laying about and gets out, police said.

Police recently released a photo of the suspect (seen above). He was last seen wearing a New York Giants knit cap, a gray jacket, dark colored jeans, black sneakers and a black backpack, police said.
