Central Park West E-Bike Rider Critical After Wrong-Way Crash: NYPD

The e-bike operator swerved into the southbound lane on Central Park West early Thursday when he collided with a Toyota, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - An e-bike rider is fighting for his life following a wrong-way crash near Central Park West early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The 32-year-old e-bike operator was traveling northbound near Central Park West and West 103 Street about 12:16 a.m. when he swerved into the southbound lane and collided with a 2016 Toyota Camry, police said.

The e-bike rider sustained head and torso trauma as a result of the crash, police said. Medics transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

The 36-year-old Toyota driver remained at the scene, police said.

The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
