A Couch Is Lodged In An UWS Tree, Nobody Knows Why: Reports
The blue couch is suspended precariously above Amsterdam Avenue and West 95th Street.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Upper West Siders living in the vicinity of West 95th Street and Amsterdam Avenue have been treated to a captivating, yet puzzling, sight. A blue wicker couch has suddenly appeared stuck in a tree about 25 feet off the ground, according to reports.
The couch first appeared lodged in the tree branches sometime before the weekend, locals first told neighborhood blog the West Side Rag. Commenters on the blog have chipped in with theories such as "a very large bird is building a nest" and "I think it blew off a patio in the last storm," but nobody really knows how the couch got there.
The city Parks Department plans to send its forestry unit out to the scene Tuesday to remove the couch from the tree and negate any potential risks to pedestrians below, a department spokeswoman told Patch.
