A recent list of a food critic's favorite slices of pizza included a spot on the Upper West Side. Find out which one.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Getting named the best of anything in New York City is no easy feat, but getting called one of the 18 best slices of pizza in the five boroughs is as tough as it gets.
Eater NY critic Robert Sietsema just came out with a list of his 18 favorite slices of pizza in New York City.
An Upper West Side establishment earned a spot on the list.

Sietsema named the cheese slice from Sal & Carmine Pizza at 2671 Broadway (between West 101st and 102nd streets) as one of his 18 favorite in the city.
Here's what he had to say about the UWS creation.

"Founded in 1959, Upper West Sider Sal & Carmine is the plainest of the plain, and thus one of the city’s foremost paragons of the neighborhood slice genre," Sietsema writes. "The crust is utilitarian, devoid of flashiness but totally getting the job done, while the sauce is subtly flavorful without announcing itself, and the ample good cheese mixes with the sauce so it becomes an amalgam."

All the pizza gets made in-house, and you can choose between classic cheese, ricotta, and Margherita.
The pizzeria is open every day from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m.
