Elderly Woman Killed By Car On Upper West Side, Police Say
The woman was struck while crossing the intersection of West 70th Street and West End Avenue.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An elderly woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning on the Upper West Side, an NYPD spokesman said.
The 85-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of West 70th Street and West End Avenue around 7 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said. Officers responding to the scene found the woman lying on the roadway suffering trauma to the body, police said.
EMS transported the woman to Cornell Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The collision occurred while the 85-year-old woman was crossing West End Avenue, police said. A black 2010 Jeep Wrangler heading northbound on West End Avenue struck the woman while the was crossing the street, police said. The Jeep was operated by a 48-year-old.
The vehicle that struck the woman stayed on the scene of the collision, an NYPD spokesman said. The driver was not charged, police said.

The woman who died was not identified by police.
