Group Behind UWS Eatery Tessa Opens New Neighborhood Spot

The new restaurant, ASSET, opened this week on Columbus Avenue between West 75th and 76th streets.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The group behind Upper West Side Mediterranean restaurant Tessa are expanding their reach in the neighborhood with a new restaurant on Columbus Avenue.

The new eatery, ASSET, will serve modern takes on American cuisine from a swanky spot on Columbus between West 75th and 76th streets, restaurant owners said in a statement. The restaurant opened Monday.

Owners said the new spot: "Offers an elevated yet approachable and fun dining experience for locals and travelers alike in a modern urban space for happy hour, dinner, weekend brunch, and late-night. ASSET aims to bring a new level of hospitality, design and 'vibe' to the Upper West Side."

Executive Chef John Schafer is behind the menu of the new restaurant, which features dishes such as Wagyu pigs in a blanket, lamb and manchego Empanadas, filet mignon carpaccio and a selection of homemade pastas. Schafer also serves as the executive chef at Tessa. ASSET will also feature a wide range of drinks including signature cocktails.

The Columbus Avenue restaurant can seat up to 220 diners in its 5,000-square-foot space, owners said. The eatery also features a 24-seat bar. Thursdays, Fridays and Sunday brunches at the restaurant will feature a rotating live DJ and music program.

ASSET will be open daily from 5-11 p.m. for dinner service with a 4-6 p.m. happy hour. The restaurant will stay open until 1 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for late-night meals. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on weekends.
