The much-anticipated Asian supermarket has opened its doors at its new location on Amsterdam Avenue.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The popular H-Mart grocery store now has two locations on the Upper West Side.
After months of anticipation, the popular Korean supermarket chain, known for its extensive selection of Korean food and snacks, opened its latest location at 210-220 Amsterdam Avenue, situated between West 69th and 70th Streets, on Friday.
The original Upper West Side store is situated at 2828 Broadway, at the intersection of West 110th Street.

The H Mart moved into the storefront last March, which had been left vacant by a Rite Aid. The Rite Aid had closed in November 2021 after serving the neighborhood for decades, as previously reported by Patch.
It joins a section of the Upper West Side that is already flush with grocery stores, including Trader Joe's, Fairway, Citarella, Morton Williams and Pioneer Supermarket.

H Mart's website describes it as America's premier Asian food destination, providing a full line of Asian foods alongside a wide range of Western groceries. The chain caters to everyday essentials as well as upscale products, positioning itself as a comprehensive alternative to traditional supermarkets.
At H-Mart, customers can stock up on staple Korean ingredients and snacks, while also enjoying pre-made classics like kimchi, kimbap and simmered rice cakes.
"We have always supported the development of new communities with each grand opening. In doing so, we continue to do our best to establish ourselves as a company that reaches out with a helping hand," H-Mart founder Il Yeon Kwon said. "As we expand, we like to think that we are reinventing the way people eat through our robust and unique food culture that also promotes a rich and healthy lifestyle to all."
H-Mart was founded in Queens in 1982, and currently has about 100 locations across the country, including around a dozen in New York City.
Just last month, a brand-new food hall debuted at the chain's Long Island City outpost.
"Our food halls are iconic staples of H Mart stores, and our Long Island City location wouldn't feel complete without one," said Briian Kwon, president of H Mart, in a statement.
The grocer received an additional boost in popularity after being featured as the titular star of the hit memoir by Michelle Zauner, lead singer of Japanese Breakfast, titled "Crying in H Mart."
The current store signage states that temporary business hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
